What Are All-On-4 Dental Implants?

Missing teeth can lead to a lack of confidence, low self-esteem, and a poor quality of life. Many patients who have been rejected for traditional implants may qualify for all-on-4 implants, as this treatment tends to require less bone grafting.

Our Digital Treatment Process

Phase One

We'll begin your personalized treatment plan with an initial consultation. This is where we discuss the expectations you have for your smile and treatment. From then, we'll begin the digital treatment process, using our advanced Zirkonzahn® Face Hunter technology to take photorealistic images and 3-dimensional CBCT scans of your face and mouth. This is where we assess your upper and lower jaw bones, bone density, any remaining teeth, and your gums. At this phase in the treatment, you're able to see a trial smile. This is a photorealistic rendition of what your new smile will look like once your all-on-4 dental implants have been fitted. When you're happy with your new smile, we’ll create a custom digital surgical guide to help us fit your implants. We'll also create a temporary prosthesis to be fitted during your surgical appointment.

Phase Two

Phase two of your treatment plan is usually your second appointment with us. More often than not, this will be your surgical appointment. This is where we will remove any unsalvageable teeth and replace the jaw if you're experiencing bone loss. We also fit your new all-on-4 dental implants in the same appointment. Most dentists offer IV sedation when completing the treatment. We offer general anesthesia during the surgery, and we have an on-site anesthesiologist who will monitor your vitals while we're completing your treatment. Our digital custom guide allows us to place your implants into your jaw bone with superior accuracy at the best depth and angle that aligns with your natural jaw. Because of our advanced technology and full team, you'll leave on the same day with a new set of beautiful teeth.

Phase Three
All-on-4 dental implants can take several months to heal properly. During this time, you will receive follow-up appointments to check your implants and the bone surrounding them. Your temporary prosthesis will work exactly like natural teeth, allowing you to eat, smile, talk, and laugh as normal. During the healing phase, your dental implants will fuse with your jaw, which will allow them to become strong like natural tooth roots. Patients can stay in their temporary teeth for up to a year before they transition to their final zirconia teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dental implants are a permanent solution to missing teeth. When cared for properly, all-on-4 dental implants should function as natural teeth and last a lifetime.

Once your new teeth have been fitted, it’s important to keep up with regular dental checks to ensure they’re working as they should be. It’s also important to brush twice a day as normal, floss, and practice good oral hygiene as you would with natural teeth.

All-on-4 dental implants provide full arch rehabilitation. They are best for patients who are missing all or most of their teeth. This could be due to a range of issues, from injury to periodontal disease (a later stage of gum disease).

All-on-4 implants are particularly good for patients experiencing bone loss or who have poor bone density, as they tend to need less bone to fit than traditional dental implants. Oral surgeons use only four implants to fit the fixed prosthesis.

Single dental implants will be a better option for patients with only one or a few missing teeth.

Yes, absolutely. All-on-4 dental implants are designed especially to feel and function like real, natural teeth. Unlike dentures, which can feel bulky and uncomfortable in the mouth, dental implants feel much more natural, allowing you to eat, chew, laugh, and talk as normal.

At the start of the healing process, your implants won’t have fully fused with your jaw, which means you might need to avoid certain foods. You may need to stick to a soft food diet and refrain from eating anything that’s too hard, crunchy, or chewy.

However, once your implants have healed, you’ll be able to eat normally with dental implants.

Both all-on-4 (or all-on-four) dental implants and traditional dentures offer a solution to missing teeth. Both can replace the entire upper and lower arch, providing you with a full smile.

However, dentures are removable. Because of this, they can feel bulky in your mouth and make your mouth dry, making it hard to eat and talk. In comparison, dental implants are a more permanent solution, providing you with a fixed bridge of teeth. They’re not removable – they fuse with your natural jaw bone, functioning just like a set of real teeth.
